Ben Affleck Explains Batman's Story In Justice League

Justice League continues the journey of DCEU's Dark Knight, one that requires Batman to take on something much more daunting than a supervillain.

Batman actor Ben Affleck sat down with ET to talk about the lighter tone and more comics accurate Justice League project, and it will include a journey of self-discovery for someone used to being on his own.

"He's put in this position of having to reach out, find other people, convincing them to do something," Affleck explains. "Part of the drama of the movie is the question of whether or not the team is going to come together. It's very different from the tenor of the last movie."

Batman's relationship with the rest of the Justice League has always been one of the more interesting facets of the superhero group, and that will also be the case here. Can the ultimate loner learn how to work with others?

"I think it's a really cool story. Actually, it's sort of a story about multilateralism. It's not a bad theme to have!" Hey, if the universe's moodiest billionaire can learn the value of collaboration, there's hope for us all.

Justice League has been surrounded by rumors, many of which spawned from the recent reshoots for the film. For Affleck, reshoots are just part of the job, and he's rather optimistic about the work they've accomplished in the DCEU.

"I've never worked on a movie that didn't do reshoots," Affleck said. "Argo, we did reshoots for a week and a half! Four days on Gone Baby Gone! This is a really nice time to work in DC. They're hitting their stride. They're getting it right. It's starting to feel like it's really working."

Justice League currently enjoys a 4.19 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings, and you can submit your vote here. The official description is included below.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
