Crazy Change To Harley Quinn In Suicide Squad #8

It's not like anyone really throws Christmas party's at Belle Reve anyway, but in the current run of Suicide Squad the place is even worse than normal, and that's not even counting the fact that General Zod is a ticking time bomb down in lockup when the power goes out.

Spoilers incoming for Suicide Squad #8, so you've been warned.

Everyone in the prison save for a few members of the Suicide Squad have been driven crazy with a murderous rage thanks to the energy of the Black Vault. The entire staff and even Killer Croc are thirsting for blood, but those same energies had a different effect on Harley Quinn, who regained her sanity thanks to the effects.

With a crazed Croc on the warpath and the now wide awake monstrosity known as Zod, things are looking pretty bleak until Harley manages to organize the remaining members in a coordinated attack against Zod. The plan hits a wall though and demands a choice from Harley. If she takes Zod down she'll also need to get rid of the Black Vault energy, and that could very well revert her to her previous form. If she chooses not to, though, well, there's a world ruled by General Zod, so that's a disappointing plan B.

Harley goes with plan A, saying "Who can stay sane in a world like this?", and hits Zod with an electrical conduit, allowing Hack and the other members of the group to infect him with a virus and take him down. The energies are sealed, and unfortunately, it doesn't take long for the effects to kick in. After things settle down, Amanda Waller locates Harley, saying "You did it. You saved us. You made us better." Harley says "I did...?" Heartbreakingly she then turns to Waller and says "I'm glad Amanda. Because your prison and the people in it? They drove me crazy. Puddin'. Ha...Ha..."

Harley is back to her old self, but hopefully, this plot thread is continued in future books because it's one of the most interesting takes on the character in some time.

Suicide Squad #10 is written by Rob Williams and penciled by Jim Lee. Inkers include Scott Williams, Richard Friend, and Sandra Hope, and Jeremiah Skipper is on Letters. Lee, Williams, and Sinclair are listed as cover artists.
