DC comics has a plethora of iconic characters at their disposal, but one of the most popular characters has continued to take residence in Star City, and DC is celebrating his 75th anniversary.

The honoree is none other than Green Arrow, who's real name is Oliver Queen, and for a guy with a bow and arrow, the character has continued to change and adapt to the times and is still as popular as ever. DC shared a new poster for the big occasion on Twitter with the caption "Rich or poor, goatee or none, we'll always love this guy. Happy 75th Anniversary to Green Arrow! Why do you love the Emerald Archer?"

Green Arrow fans are experiencing a bevy of riches at the moment, as Stephen Amell's successful show Arrow is just about to start its fifth season on The CW. The upcoming season will bring the focus back to street-level level crimefighting that made the show a hit in the first place, but will still make time to take part in the CW-verse wide crossover with Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and The Flash.

Staying on the TV side of things, fans will get to see an earlier but also successful translation of the character now that the entire run of Smallville is on Hulu. The actor Justin Hartley played the part of Oliver in the show and was a crucial part of Smallville's version of the Justice League.

If you've tired of TV, you can always go back to the comics, where writer Benjamin Percy and artist Otto Schmidt are currently doing some wonderful things with the character and his surrounding cast.

While there hasn't been any mention of the character in regards to the DC Cinematic Universe, it would be shocking not to see him make the jump sooner or later. You can view the 75th-anniversary poster in the gallery.
