Exclusive DC Preview: Superwoman #14 and the "Real Maxima?"

DC has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive preview of next week's Superwoman #14 from writer K. Perkins and artists Stephen Segovia and Art Thibert.

Maxima made her first appearance in Action Comics #645 (September 1989) and was created by Roger Stern and George Pérez. Maxima is from planet Almerac, where her family is royalty, and she comes to Earth to pursue a suitable mate: Superman. When the Man of Steel rejects her offer (several times), she seeks revenge against him. Following the Flashpoint reboot, Maxima became a bisexual character who felt pressure to find a mate and repopulate her planet, but really wanted to be with a woman instead.

Based on the solicitation text for the upcoming issue, it sounds like Maxima is getting the Lobo treatment, with the post-Flashpoint version of the charcter turning out to be an imposter of some kind.

You can see the preview images in the attached image gallery and the solicitation text below.

"SUPERMAX" part one! Meet Superwoman's newest roommate—Maxima?! When the galaxy's foremost forger of heroes finds herself in need of a hero herself, she turns to Superwoman and the planet Earth. But Supergirl has unfinished business with her former mentor, bringing the Girl of Steel to Metropolis and into the clutches of the real Maxima!
