Exclusive DC Preview: Wonder Woman #20

DC has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive preview of next week's Wonder Woman #20, from writer Greg Rucka and artist Bilquis Evely.

The issue is the third part of the "Godwatch" storyline that's currently running through the even-numbered issues of the series, while Liam Sharp works with Rucka on "The Truth" in the odd-numbered issues.

"Godwatch" part three! Cale launches a desperate gambit to take control of Godwatch, but her plan hinges on two factors she cannot control: the witch Circe, and Wonder Woman!

Rucka's Wonder Woman has favored a "back to basics" approach since it was launched as part of DC's Rebirth initiative, right down to Rucka himself returning to a character he had once done best-selling work on.

"I'd been talking to some of the colleagues actually about the bi-monthly thing and wrestling with the problem," Rucka told ComicBook.com back when the series launched, talking about the decision to be the only book in DC's line that told two, monthly stories instead of one ongoing story that shipped twice monthly. "One of the things it creates, and you see it throughout the industry, you know, it's not endemic to any one house, is that when you have to move up the schedule like that you put the artists on such a treadmill that there's no way that they can get as far enough in advance to have a full sense of ownership, and so you end up with rotating teams. There's a time and a place for that, but I really, one of my concerns coming in was I really wanted everybody to have full buy-in, for lack of a better phrase. It seemed to me that certainly at the start the best way to do that would be to tell sort of these two stories that are in fact very related to one another, but the way they relate doesn't become necessarily evident until you're further into it."
