First Look at Lynda Carter on Supergirl

Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter is coming to Supergirl this season, playing the President of the United States, and series star Melissa Benoist took to Instagram yesterday to give fans their first glimpse of DC TV's biggest leading ladies together for the first time.

It seems from the shot that Supergirl will come face to face with the President in Carter's episode, although obviously there's also a chance that she's just hanging out on set with the famous guest star.

"We had the perfect role for Lynda Carter," Executive Producer Greg Berlanti said during the show's first season. "We couldn't work out her schedule. Next year."

During that same interview, the producer revealed that the role they had intended for the actress was that of the President.

Before Carter was announced, references had already been made on the show to there being a female President of the United States.

You can check it out below.

Supergirl had the biggest debut of the 2015-2016 season, but lost about half of its viewers over the course of its first season. While it remained one of CBS's biggest shows, the cost of making the series is significant. It's reported that Supergirl costs about $3 million per episode.

The show will head to Vancouver, where tax incentives will reduce the cost of production. In its first season, Supergirl filmed in Los Angeles.

One of the highest-rated and most buzzed-about episodes of Supergirl this year was its crossover with The Flash. A move to The CW -- especially if the movie is also physical and production is relocated to Vancouver -- will mean an increase in crossover opportunities with the DC Universe set up at the network. Supergirl shares executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg with Arrow, The Flash, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. A four-way crossover has already been promised for the coming broadcast season.

Besides Carter, actors Chris Wood, Tyler Hoechlin and Ian Gomez have joined the cast as Mon-El, Superman and Snapper Carr, respectively.

Supergirl will air on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW starting in the fall.
