The series, which is designed to be accessible to fans of both franchises, will introduce some new ideas to the mythology of both, ideally setting up sequels (Green Lantern is currently on its second crossover with Star Trek over at IDW Publishing).

It seems likely that the Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern crossover will have to directly address the idea of a multiverse. Assuming that DC's future is destined to be the world from the Planet of the Apes franchise asks more questions than it answers.

On the other hand, Jack Kirby's fan-favorite fantasy series Kamandi was famously created when Kirby, hoping to get the Planet of the Apes license, couldn't do so and instead set out to make something similar enough to scratch that creative itch. Soon, DC will launch a year-long maxiseries The Kamandi Challenge, which would be written and drawn by a different creative team covering a different part of the world of Kamandi every month.

Perez will provide interconnecting variants for issues #1 and #2 without order restriction. Additionally, each issue of Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern will be solicited with four variant covers featuring a movie poster homage, a Silver Age comics homage, a Spectrum cover, and an action figure cover.

You can check out the covers for #1 below, along with solicitation text for the issue.

The project represents is the third collaboration between BOOM! and DC. The companies recently co-published Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy, and next week sees the release of Justice League/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1.

Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern will kick off in February 2017, but it's eligible for final order cutoff this week, so contact your retailer if you're interested in getting a copy soon.
