Gotham City Sirens: Bryce Dallas Howard Interested In Playing Poison Ivy

The DC Extended Universe is in need of red-headed women. Warner Bros. will soon be needing to cast a lead for Joss Whedon's recently revealed Batgirl movie and, if rumors are true, that film will be focused on Barbara Gordon.

Then there's Gotham City Sirens, the Harley Quinn-centric spinoff of Suicide Squad. The film will see Harley teaming up with other female villains from Gotham City, including Catwoman and the red-headed plant-lover Poison Ivy.

Poison Ivy has been brought to the big screen once before. She was portrayed by Uma Thurman in Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin. Who will follow in Thurman's footsteps? It seems like Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard may be up for the job.

A fan asked Howard if she'd ever be interested in playing Poison Ivy. Howard responded with a GIF of Thurman's Poison Ivy giving a wink to the dynamic duo and a message stating, "She's pretty badass."

Gotham City Sirens is still only in pre-production, so it likely is not too late for Warner Bros. and DC Films to give Howard a call.

Gotham City Sirens was first announced by Warner Bros in December 2016 as a spinoff of Suicide Squad movie. Based on the DC Comics series of the same name, the film is being fast-tracked and will see Margot Robbie reprise her role as Harley Quinn and serve as an executive producer. Suicide Squad director David Ayer will re-team with Robbie to direct Gotham City Sirens. Geneva Dworet-Robertson will write the screenplay. Catwoman and Poison Ivy, the other two stars of the Gotham City Sirens comic book series, are expected to join Harley Quinn in the film, though it's unclear if the movie will adapt any particular storyline from the comics. Black Mask, a fixture of organized crime in Gotham City in the DC Comics Universe, is rumored to be the film's main antagonist. Filming is expected to begin this summer, with casting announcements coming soon.
