WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE LATEST EPISODE OF GOTHAM, 'HEROES RISE: THE PRIMAL RIDDLE'!

Tonight's episode of Gotham brought the city even closer to its knees. The bomb is set to go off sometime soon, The Riddler has been taken by his ultimate villain, Penguin is rallying a dangerous group of villains, and Jim Gordon has joined the Court of Owls.

In the midst of all that, it was also revealed that a major player in the game of Gotham-chess has a limited amount of time left on their lifespan. The living and breathing clone of Bruce Wayne, aptly called Dopple-Bruce, is dying.

After playing chess with Alfred, DB noticed that his nose was bleeding again. He left Wayne Manor, and went to his boss at the Court of Owls.

There, Katherine revealed that, as he had guessed, this version of Bruce won't last much longer. She apologizes to him, saying that the method that created him was flawed, and that his lifespan was never meant to be permanent.

DB asks if Bruce will be back before he dies, and Katherine tells him that he will. Bruce will be back long before anything happens to DB.

This was comforting, because that meant DB can truly fulfill his purpose. Katherine gave him a mission, game him meaning, so that he didn't feel terrible about existing in the first place.
