Kevin Costner has been one of the most respected actors in Hollywood throughout his illustrious career and continues to be a presence on film in a variety of genres.
Costner would enter the mainstream consciousness thanks to his portrayal of Elliot Ness in The Untouchables, which he followed up with a role in No Way Out. In 1988 he added another hit role to his resume as Crash Davis in Bull Durham, and then in 1989 added another classic film in the Phil Alden Robinson directed Field Of Dreams.
He would then continue to churn out hits over the next several years with movies like Dances With Wolves, Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, JFK, The Bodyguard, and Wyatt Earp. Despite the floundering of his big epic Waterworld, he would go on to star in other hit films like Tin Cup, Message In A Bottle, Thirteen Days, and Rumor Has It.
Comic fans will likely know his work most from the role of Jonathan Kent in Man of Steel, a role he briefly reprised in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While there is a Man of Steel 2 planned, it's unknown whether he'll make another appearance.
Since then he's starred in Criminal and the recently released Hidden Figures, where he plays Al Harrison of NASA fame alongside Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, and Mahershala Ali.
Kevin Costner was born on January 18, 1955, in Lynwood California.
Happy Birthday, Kevin Costner!
