How The Flash Season 1 Connects To Legends Of Tomorrow

The Arrowverse on CW has grown to four shows wide, with more possibly on the way thanks to Black Lightning. With that many shows, it's understandable that there would be a bevy of connections interweaved throughout each one, especially now that they've all crossed over in the recent Invasion storyline. That connectivity has been around before that, however, just not in the ways you might assume.

EW user Michael asked a question about The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, pertaining to the time sphere. The Reverse-Flash made a comment about the sphere in season 1, saying "That looks like Rip Hunter's ship." Michael asked if that connects to anything being seen in season 2 of Legends of Tomorrow.

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim said "I would say it was taken into consideration in the design of the Waverider. The sphere that's in the front of the Waverider is meant to be an homage to the time sphere that we've seen on Flash and Legends. So make of that what you will." It might not be affecting the characters, but Legends fans know that the Waverider and its A.I. Gideon are just as vital to the show's popularity.

Next up for Legends of Tomorrow is "Fellowship of the Spear", which airs Tuesday on the CW. The official synopsis is located below.

IT'S WAR — The Legends must devise a plan to retrieve the last remaining fragments of the Spear of Destiny from the Legion of Doom. They find themselves in France at the height of World War I faced with the knowledge that they must destroy the mystical object. They enlist the help of a soldier by the name of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (guest star Jack Turner) and find that the Spear is leading them into the heart of the war. Meanwhile, the team must all resist the temptation of the Spear, and the return of a former teammate.

Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Arthur Darvill, Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Franz Drameh, Nick Zano and Maisie Richardson-Sellers.

Ben Bray directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Matthew Maala (#215). Original airdate 3/21/2017.
