Is Wonder Woman's Blue Dress A Callback To The Lynda Carter Series?

Fans have responded well to Gal Gadot's version of Wonder Woman, as she was hands down the favorite in DC's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Before she graced the costume though there was another popular Wonder Woman, the talented Lynda Carter, and it seems the new team found a way to tip their hat to her iconic take on the character.

DCEU films are typically filled with homages to other DC lore, and Wonder Woman will likely be no different. In fact, Twitter user @haarleyquin spotted one homage to a particular episode of Wonder Woman where Carter wore a piercing blue dress. While the cut is a bit different, the dress Gadot is wearing in the Wonder Woman trailer at the banquet is a spitting image of it, in what seems to be a nice nod to longtime Wonder Woman fans and Carter herself, who inspired a new generation of Wonder Woman fans during her time as the character. Otherwise, it's just a major coincidence, but with the DCEU, that is rarely the case.

Granted, it won't replace a full-fledged Carter cameo, but it is still a nice nod nonetheless.

The film stars Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis (Etta Candy), Danny Huston, Ewen Bremmer, Doutzen Kroes, Samantha Jo (Euboea), Florence Kasumba (Senator Acantha), Said Taghmaoui, Eleanor Matsuura (Epione), Emily Carey (Young Diana), and Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe).

The DCEU continues with Wonder Woman opens in theaters on June 2, 2017, followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash, The Batman, Dark Universe and Man of Steel 2 are currently without a release dates.
