James Wan Comments On The Possibility Of Aqualad Appearing In Aquaman

02/20/2017 12:45 pm EST

With Aquaman beginning production soon, fans are starting to realize just how big of a world James Wan will be exploring in the film.

The cast continues to grow, proving that a ton of classic Aquaman characters will make themselves known. Mera, Orm, Black Manta, Vulko, and Atlanna are all confirmed to appear alongside Arthur Curry in the movie.

That's a pretty long list, and there's surely more to come. However, if you're a fan of Young Justice or Teen Titans, there's one glaring omission to the cast.

What about Aqualad?

Many have been asking if the famous sidekick will appear in Aquaman. Finally, on Twitter, director James Wan shut down those rumors once and for all.

After Wan was pretty definitive about the character not showing up in the film, some fans stated that their hearts were being broken. This gave Wan an opportunity to explain why he chose not to include Aqualad in the movie, and his answer makes a ton of sense.

Aquaman is set to hit theaters in 2018, but he will first appear in this year's Justice League film.
