Jared Leto's Joker Nominated For Best Villain At MTV Movie & TV Awards

Musician, singer, and sometimes actor Jared Leto turned heads last year for his gangster version of the Clown Prince of Crime, putting a new spin on Batman's greatest villain on screen in Suicide Squad.

The 30 Seconds To Mars frontman donned tattoos, gold teeth, and the classic green hair in his portrayal of the Joker, offering a distinct and unique take on the classic rogue.

Apparently the response to the Academy Award-winning Suicide Squad, and Leto's portrayal of Joker, were regarded high enough as the actor has now been nominated for an MTV Movie & TV Award.

Up for Best Villain alongside the antagonists in Get Out, American Horror Story, Stranger Things, and the Walking Dead, Leto's Joker is the lone super villain in this year's category.

When he was notified by MTV that he was nominated for the category because of his role in Suicide Squad, the actor channeled the Joker in a response that's quite in line with how one might expect his version of the character to act.

Despite meeting met with mixed response upon its release in theaters and subsequent Extended Edition hitting HD and Blu-ray, Suicide Squad has continued to be honored by prestigious acclaims.

This comes in contrast to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which received quite a few Razzie Awards just before Suicide Squad found success at the Oscars.

Regardless of the awards, both films remain successful and have followups in the pipeline. After this year's Wonder Woman and Justice League films, Warner Bros. is expected to put both the Harley Quinn-focused Gotham City Sirens film and the Suicide Squad sequel into production.
