The fact that there is actually a Nightwing movie coming from Warner Bros. at some point is a big deal in itself, but now the attention turns to who's going to take on the coveted role.

In ComicBook.com's recent fan poll, Joseph Gordon-Levitt took the top honors for the part, but another fan favorite seems to have thrown his hat into the ring. Jared Padalecki, who plays the role of Sam on Supernatural, was asked on Twitter if he would ever consider playing Nightwing. Padalecki responded with an answer that perked up ears, saying "I've always wanted to..." With only just being announced, Nightwing has already skyrocketed to a 4.09 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings.

Later another user posted a mocked-up photo of what he might look like in the part, and it's awfully convincing.

Padalecki certainly has the charm and stature to pull the role off, and he already has a built in fanbase. It will be mighty interesting to see which way DC and Warner Bros. go with the part.

Next up for DC is Justice League, and you can find the official synopsis for it below.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciarán Hinds, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg.

Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017, while The Batman lands sometime in 2018. Nightwing currently has no release date.
