Jim Lee Wants To See Jack Kirby's Fourth World On the Big Screen

During our conversation with DC co-publisher Jim Lee about the impact of comics legend Jack Kirby, we had to ask: what Kirby-created characters would he like to see on the big screen?

The answer, of course, is the New Gods.

"You know the Fourth World would be a very cool," Lee told ComicBook.com. "Sort of exploration within the DC Comics extended universe. Obviously Steppenwolf has been announced as the villain for the Justice League movie. But there's so much more to mythology, you know."

That mythology, of course, would lead to Darkseid, Steppenwolf's nephew and the big bad behind stories like "The Great Darkness Saga," Final Crisis, and "The Darkseid War."

The long-standing rumor has been that a potential Justice League sequel would center on the battle with Darkseid, and while Lee certainly did not speak to that, he indicated that he hoped to eventually see Darkseid onscreen.

"So, it'd probably be arguably DC's biggest, baddest villain that we have," Lee said, adding, "It's no coincidence that Jack Kirby was the one that created him."

Justice League will head to theaters on November 17.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
