Jason Momoa On Where Fans First Meet Aquaman In 'Justice League'

November can't come fast enough for fans of the DC Extended Universe. Justice League will hit theaters that month, and the flick will introduce fans to heroes like Aquaman. The sea-dwelling superhero has grabbed plenty of attention thanks to Jason Momoa's gritty take on the character, and the actor recently explained why Arthur Curry is so angry in the DCEU.

The most recent issue of Total Film hit stands not long ago, and the magazine houses a feature on the DC blockbuster. Thanks to Cosmic Book News, a handful of quotes from the article have hit the Internet, and one comes from Momoa himself. When the actor was asked about Aquaman's character at the start of Justice League, Momoa had the following to say:

"He's not readily accepted. He's hurt. He covers it up."

For Momoma, the actor has said he personally identifies with his character feeling out of place. The actor sat down for a radio interview last December where he opened up about his personal connection to Arthur Curry.

"How I identify with that is kind of being...a bit of an outcast. You see, he wasn't really too accepted...I wasn't too accepted," the actor revealed about his own childhood.

"There weren't any races where I grew up. There's no Chinese, no Mexican, no Black. I grew up in Iowa. I graduated with like 100 people," he continued. "I was born in Hawaii, so I would go see my father... [I] just wasn't accepted on the local side by some people because I wasn't raised in Hawaii. I identify as being that outcast and not really fitting into two different worlds."

Aquaman fans will be able to see how Momoa's conflicted identity connects to Arthur Curry. The DC character is a man of two worlds as well; He is both human and Atlantean thanks to his parent's forbidden romance. After learning of his own origins, Arthur struggled to reconcile his two heritages, and it looks like that war will be fully represented in Justice League later this year.
