'Legends of Tomorrow' Crossover Tease Hints at Justice Society Involvement

Could the Justice Society of America, last seen fragmented in season 2 of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, play a prominent role in November's four-show crossover on The CW? A tweet from Legends showrunner Marc Guggenheim has a lot of fans thinking so.

Guggenheim, who last week tweeted a cryptic image of a work-in-progress prop that fans struggled to identify, today released a photo of a mask that will serve as a prop for the two-night event, which will air on November 27 and 28.

The mask is a little easier to identify.

While some fans immediately seized on it as a potential new mask for Heat Wave, the overwhelming majority of the comments picked up on it as Sandman's mask.

It does not resemble the gasmask already seen on board the Waverider on Legends and thought to belong to Sandman, but it very closely resembles a mask worn by Sandy Hawkins, the original Sandman's sidekick and later the Justice Society member known as Sand, during Geoff Johns's fan-favorite JSA run.

The Justice Society appeared in a few key episodes of the show's second season, although Sandman was not one of the characters who appeared with them. One of their members, Vixen, is currently a member of the Legends. A villain who previously faced her granddaughter (also Vixen, but this one from Arrow as opposed to Legends) is expected to reappear on Legnds this year, so perhaps Vixen and the JSA will figure prominently into the crossover.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow returns to The CW on Tuesday, October 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT following the season premiere of The Flash.
