Legends Of Tomorrow Gets Order For Additional Four Episodes

DC's Legends of Tomorrow will live on -- at least past its initial season 2 order.

That doesn't quite mean it's got a season 3 yet, although an extra four episodes ordered today certainly make it seem like The CW is happy enough with the sophomore DC Comics adaptation to toy with the idea.

The series, which has been averaging 2.3 million viewers -- a 13% increase from when The Vampire Diaries was airing in the same spot, according to Deadline -- will now have a 17-episode second season.

It was recently revealed that the title to Legends of Tomorrow's tenth season 2 episode is "The Legion of Doom," the primary antagonists for the season who have, up to this point, gone undetected by the Legends.

The extra episodes presumably gives the crew of the Waverider more of an opportunity to formulate a battle plan against Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), The Reverse-Flash (Matthew Letscher), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough).

No decision has yet been made as to whether The CW -- which renewed all of its primetime shows last season -- will pick up additional episodes of Frequency or No Tomorrow.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary, captain of the timeship Waverider; Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave; Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein, one half of Firestorm with Franz Drameh (Jax Jackson) as the other half; Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/The Atom; Maisie Richardson Sellers as Vixen, and Nick Zano as Citizen Steel.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
