Legends of Tomorrow: Heat Wave is Scared of Something Surprising

With the latest film adaptation of Stephen King's It heading to theaters this week, it seems worth mentioning for all those DC fans out there considering supporting Warner Bros.' latest non-superhero franchise...apparently Heat Wave isn't too fond of clowns.

It centers on a group of kids who are terrorized by a demon that takes the shape of a creepy clown. They decide to put a stop to the demon once and for all so that future generations of kids don't have to live in fear -- but they don't do the job all the way, and decades later they have to reassemble as adults to try again.

"Without giving too much away, he fits in -- trust me," DC's Legends of Tomorrow star Dominic Purcell told ComicBook.com of his character, Heat Wave, who is generally stoic and serious but finds himself faced with a trip to P.T. Barnum's circus in the second episode of season 3. "It's a hysterical episode, and let me put it this way: Mick is scared of something you wouldn't believe Mick Rory is scared of."

While Purcell himself did not spill the beans, per se, the teaser trailer for the third season certainly seems to do a pretty good job of it.

If you look at around a minute and 25 seconds in the trailer above, you can see what appears to be Heat Wave punching a clown, who flies through the frame.

Putting two and two together, it seems like big bad macho supervillain Mick Rory has an irrational fear of clowns...

...but at least he's willing to fight back?
