Diane Lane Wants a DC Movie Mom Scene With Aquaman's Nicole Kidman

...We all know too well about DC Comics movies and their obsessions with mothers - after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, few viewers can ever forget it!

After the infamous Martha moment in BvS, you'd think that everyone involved with DC Films would want to stay as far away from the subject of mothers as they possibly could; however, the lady who is the subject of the DC Extended Universe's most controversial moment wants just the opposite!

Man of Steel and Batman v Superman was recently dodging spoilery questions about her role in the year's Justice League, when she offered an opinion on which DCEU character she'd like to share a scene with - and it's none other than Aquaman's mommy, Atlantean queen Atlanna, who will be played in James Wan's upcoming Aquaman movie by Nicole Kidman.

"I want a scene with Nicole, that's what I really want. Perhaps in another [sequel]!" Lane said, adding that the twelve-year difference between Kidman (49) and Mamoa (37) doesn't ruin the casting, as she (52) is only 18 years older than Superman actor, Henry Cavill (34). In short: playing things you never could be in life is pretty much what "acting" is all about.

Of course, DC Comics fans know that such a meeting will never happen. For one thing, Atlanna (in whatever version of canon) usually meets some kind of tragic end. But even if she is still alive in the current era of the DCEU, it's hard to imagine a scenario where Superman brings his own mother under the sea to Atlantis - or Aquaman brings his mother to land-locked Kansas. In terms of comic book continuity, it's pretty unlikely; however, seeing Lane and Kidman trading off in a scene together would be a novel treat for fans of cinema.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), Ciarán Hinds (Steppenwolf), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), Amber Heard (Mera), Kiersey Clemons (Iris West) and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor).

Wonder Woman arrives on June 2, 2017, followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017. The Batman is expected sometime in 2018. Aquaman is set for October 5, 2018, and Nightwing's solo feature is due sometime in 2019.

Justice League currently enjoys a 4.14 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings, which has climbed up more than a few points since the trailer released. Let us know how excited (or not) you are for it by rating it below!
