Patty Jenkins Is Attached To Direct Wonder Woman 2

Warner Bros. latest film in the DC Cinematic Universe could be the beginning of a brand new franchise.
More than 75 years after debuting in the pages of All Star Comics #8, Wonder Woman is now the star of her own feature film. Though Gal Gadot previously debuted as Wonder Woman on the big screen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as a supporting character, the box office numbers for this opening weekend might prove the character can stand on her own.
Though Warner Bros. have yet to greenlight a sequel, director Patty Jenkins has previously spoken about her intentions to continue telling the story of Princess Diana of Themyscira.
Now a new profile about Jenkins from the Hollywood Reporter revealed that both Jenkins and Gadot are contracted to make Wonder Woman 2 should Warner Bros. decide to make it—and honestly, at this point, that seems like a given.
The studio already has an ambitious slate of films in the pipeline: Justice League is set to release in November, Aquaman is currently in production and scheduled to hit theaters December 2018, while WB also has plans for Batman, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Gotham City Sirens movies.

The profile states that Jenkins herself might not make another big budget feature film right away, mentioning the possibility of a limited series based on a project written by her husband Sam Sheridan.
"What I never want to do is start phoning it in and making things just to show that I can keep my foot in the door and do big movies," Jenkins said to THR. "I don't care about that at all. I just want to make great movies. And that could come from any direction. It might be a $10 million movie or it might be $200 million movie."
The report indicates that Wonder Woman 2 could be set in the present day, but unless that's directly confirmed by anyone directly involved with the film we are hesitant to believe it.
Either way, whether the next Wonder Woman movie is another period piece or takes place in a post-Justice League world, we'll be first in line so long as Jenkins returns to direct. But given that it's Hollywood, anything can happen until the ink on the contract is dry.
