Ryan Reynolds Mocks Green Lantern With Stephen Colbert's Help

When it comes to Green Lantern, the hero has a rather difficult live-action past. The DC Comics staple is a fan-favorite figure for fans, but Warner Bros. failed to deliver when the company rolled out a film about Hal Jordan. Ryan Reynolds was roped into the project and brought the legend to life - but neither fans or critics were fond of the feature as a whole.

These days, Reynolds is laughing off his prior bad luck with superheroes. The star made a memorable comeback as Deadpool last year with a raunchy solo flick, and the merc has gotten universal praise since. Still, Reynolds does like to look back on his days as the Green Lantern if not just for a laugh. The star has famously bashed the film in previous interviews. And, now, Reynolds has done it again with a little help from Stephen Colbert.

Recently, the actor appeared on Colbert's late-night show where he participated in a segment called "Big Questions With Even Bigger Stars." The two men were filmed under a starry sky as they pondered some of life's biggest questions, and it was there that Colbert admitted he wished he could have superpowers. However, the gifts he said he wanted sounded a bit too famliar.

"Oh, I'd like to have this super cool, alien high-tech ring, and it's green and it has a lantern on it and I can use my imagination to make anything out of green light," Colbert said, clearly nodding to Green Lantern.

"Wow," Reynolds deadpanned after a moment. "That's a really dumb super power."

From what Reynolds has said in the past, Green Lantern barely registers on his list of rankable films. The actor was once asked to rate the movie on a scale of 1-10, and Reynolds failed to give the movie an inflated rating.

"I would give it a scant...4? Yeah, 3 or 4?" he told Andy Cohen before renegotiating his terms. "ONE! IT'S A ONE!"

Hopefully, the Green Lantern Corps film will come off better than its predecessor. Rumors have suggested that Armie Hammer has been eying the role as of late, so Reynolds may want to give his fellow actor a tip or two about the intergalactic hero.
