Scalped TV Pilot Now Filming

Fans who are wondering about the status of the long-in-development television adaptation of the Vertigo Comics series Scalped can rest easy, because it seems that production has finally begun.

A pilot based on Jason Aaron and R. M. Guéra's 60 issue crime series was picked up by WGN America a few years ago and it looks like it's finally moving forward.

We previously learned that the production cast Alex Meraz and Lily Gladstone as the series leads, the characters Dashiell Bad Horse and Carol Red Crow respectively.

They are being directed by the team of Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah in the pilot, which was written by Doug Jung. Jung is also producing the series with DC Films chief Geoff Johns.

Series co-creator Aaron tweeted from the production, an indication that filming is currently underway.

The story revolves around Dashiell Bad Horse returning home to the Prairie Rose Reservation after leaving it behind. He's ostracized from the community and makes it clear he doesn't have many friends, but his physical prowess leads him to serve the criminal empire, ran by Carol Red Crow's father Chief Red Crow.

The series then reveals that Bad Horse is actually an undercover FBI agent, working to bring down Red Crow's activities.

Hopefully we'll find out how closely the new show resembles the comic book, which provides a strong foundation to build a series on, if the pilot gets picked up by WGN.
