DC Fans Are Freaking Out Over Zach Levi's 'Shazam' Casting

The Joyful
As stated, Zach Levi is a major geek-friendly pick for Shazam - which is why it's understandable that some fans are geeking out hard over the announcement!
The Disappointed
Not surprisingly, some fans are greatly disappointed by this casting. It's not that they dislike Levi - it's more that they just had other actors they wanted to see get the role (sorry John Cena...).
The Curious
Casting may not actually the biggest hurdle for DC Films to get over. Making the mainstream public actually care about Shazam might be the bigger task...
The Conspiracy Theorists
You can make a DC Films announcement without also triggering a whole bunch of DC/Warner Bros. conspiracy theories. Just minutes after Levi's Shazam casting was announced, the new conspiracy narrative has already started taking shape...
The Next Ones...
Now that we know who will be playing Shazam, fan talk is turning to who will play the magical hero's child alter-ego, Billy Batson. Right now, IT and Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard is the early candidate in the lead!
The Losers Club
For some reason, some fans feel like this Shazam casting news is a good reason to take a swipe at Man From U.N.C.L.E. star Armie Hammer and WWE superstar John Cena.
Cena just seemed like a good mix of muscles and humor who could portray a kid suddenly given superpowers and an adult body. Hammer has been a longtime fan-nomination for several DC movie roles, including Green Lantern and Shazam - though the actor himself has been mildly indifferent about the whole thing. It won't stop fans from slamming him, though...
Shazam will be in theaters on April 5, 2019.
