Suicide Squad Villain Revealed

So far, we've seen a fair amount of footage from Suicide Squad, but one question that still hasn't been answered is a pretty big one...
...who's the bad guy?
For a while, it seemed like The Joker. Now we've seen plenty of magical stuff, leading some fans to believe that the Enchantress is involved.
Well, according to producers, who talked with ComicBook.com's Lucas Siegel during a recent set visit, they're calling the big bad The Adversary.
Wait -- The Adversary? Like that guy who got his powers from Lord Satanus and appeared in a few issues of J.M. DeMatteis's Superman?
No, not him. This sounds more like it's a Cthulu-type Old Gods monster.
"Oh, you will find out who the Adversary is," teased producer Richard Suckle. "That is for sure. You will find out not only who the Adversary is but why they exist, who is part and parcel and who is behind them. You definitely find that out in this movie for sure."
"There's multiple adversaries that the Squad has to contend with over the course of the movie of which the Joker is one of them," added producer Andy Horwitz.
...But is Joker a lower-case adversary or an upper-case Adversary? That's a pretty significant question.
The Squad will also go up against Enchantress, at least for a portion of time, as they revealed that due to her existing magical abilities, she's able to get close to the Adversary - close enough to then be possessed or controlled by him in some way. They'll also fight those goo-covered foot soldiers, the "Eyes of the Adversary" throughout the film. Those soldiers had their own hint as to the nature of the beast, with patches on their shoulders that said "Escort to Darkness" and showed a tentacle reaching up out of the ground below the writing.
It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren't picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it's every man for himself?
Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.
