The Flash: Sam Raimi & Marc Webb Reportedly Pass On Directing

One day, Warner Bros. will end its search for The Flash's next director, but that time has yet to come. It's been several months since the highly anticipated DC adaptation lost its most recent director following Rick Famuyiwa's leave. The Flash has lost two directors to date, and fans have started to grow anxious over the movie's slow-moving director hunt as of late. Recently, reports helped ease those worries when a slew of directors were said to be in talks for the project, but fans should not get too excited just yet.

After all, it looks like two directors may have been pushed from the shortlist already.

In a recent report by Entertainment Weekly, the website write that two of The Flash's rumored directors have passed on the film. The site's sources informed them that Sam Raimi and Marc Webb have opted to overlook The Flash.

At this time, no official word has been given by Warner Bros. or the directors' camp regarding the report. Fans learned Raimi was in the running to direct The Flash yesterday, but Webb's name was kept on the down-low until today. Still, there are those who refuse to cross Raimi and Webb off the film's shortlist just yet.

In Entertainment Weekly's report, the site also alleged that The Flash had lost a vital cast member. The report said Billy Crudup had chose to leave the film, leaving fans to wonder who could play Barry Allen's father instead - but that did not last for long. Shortly after the report went live, the Hollywood Reporter said it had heard from Crudup's camp that the actor was still very much attached to The Flash. So, who knows? The original report's claims about Raimi and Webb could be off as well.

For now, fans are simply waiting until they hear official word about The Flash and its director search. Warner Bros. is busy at the moment with films like Wonder Woman and Justice League, but The Flash is still pleading for attention. The film, which is set to debut in 2018, doesn't have much time to get into production if it wants to keep its current premiere date. But, without a director or finalized script in sight, things aren't looking to great. For the time being, The Flash will have to suck it up and slow itself down until Warner Bros. is confident about its outcome.
