The Flash Recap With Spoilers: The Present

The mid-season finale of The Flash season 3 "The Present" starts off with Julian writing in a journal somewhere in India.

A woman tells him to come quick and they enter an old cave full of ancient artifacts, Indiana Jones style.

He picks something up and says, "This is it! I can feel it!" as he busts open an ancient relic.

Meanwhile at STAR Labs, Team Flash is discussing any new info on Savitar.

Also, the lab is covered with lovely Christmas decorations.

Cisco discovers a published paper on the internet that explains an ancient relic (the stone that Dr. Alchemy uses) that creates metahumans.

Barry asks Julian about The Philosophers Stone, but Julian LIES and says he never found it on any of his expeditions.

Barry then asks him about Savitar. Julian responds, "As far as I know Savitar is the first metahuman with speed, but I suggest you don't waste your time on this."

Back at Central City PD, Joe is planning a NOG-OFF on Christmas Eve at the West residence with his new love interest.

Enter THE TRICKSTER, as he walks out from robbing a bank when Jay Garrick shows up to stop him.

Before The Trickster sets off a bomb, Barry Allen appears out of thin air on Earth-3, stops The Trickster, and asks Jay Garrick about Savitar.

Jay says he's never met Savitar but he was the first man ever granted speed who became the fastest of them all. Before he arrives he selects a predecessor before he shows up - Doctor Alchemy.

Barry says he will be ready when Savitar decides to return and Jay responds with, "We both will!"

In a field H.G. is training Wally, who has become faster than Barry!

Back at STAR Labs Jay and Barry are reflecting on Christmas while Barry obssess over Savitar.

Jay suggests he get his head out of the books and get with his family while he still has one.

Meanwhile, Cisco keeps seeing visions of his dead brother, Dante. It is his first Christmas without his brother and he's a bit sad about not having him around.

Back at the West residence Barry shows up to spend some time with his girl Iris for the holiday. Iris brings up exchanging presents and Barry gets all weird and shady...like maybe he forgot.

Iris tells Barry that she found out that Julian's co-workers were on a dig in India and were all killed.

Barry runs to Joe and tells him that he things Julian is lying about The Philosophers Stone!

Cut to Doctor Alchemy holding the stone up in the air wihich is glowing. He is summoning Savitar!

Jay and Barry divise a plan, Jay takes on Savitar and Barry goes after the glowy stone.

Savitar is about ready to stab Jay in the heart when Barry retrieves the stone, puts it in its special box and Savitar disappears into thin air.

Barry pulls the mask off of Doctor Alchemy and sees...JULIAN!

Back at STAR Labs, The Flash locks Julian up and tells him that he knows he is Alchemy. Julian denies that he is Alchemy.

This is confusing.

Jay Garrick is laid up from his run in with Savitar, and is joking around with Barry about his dad being proud of him, while Barry calls him a senior citizen while saying he is NOT A SIDEKICK!

Cisco is checking out this new mysterious box. He tells Barry that he can't find anything about the box, it's like the box doesn't exist.

Once again, Joe is yelling at Wally for training and using his powers.

Barry asks Julian if he has been blacking out all or waking up in strange places. He says no.

BARRY PULLS OF HIS MASK! He reaveals to Julian that he is The Flash and Julian admits to blacking out, when his sister died.

His sister told him about the stone and said it would bring them back together. He tells Barry he travelled to India, found the stone, and the blackouts started.

Ever other member of the team was found dead, so Julian ran to America in fear.

When he blacks out, he hears the voice.

Meanwhile, Dante shows himself to Cisco again and says, "If you leave, I will have to leave too."

Julian can't believe that every time he blacks out he becomes Alchemy.

Dante tells Cisco to open the box with the Stone so they could be togther again at Christmas. Cisco opens the box an Dante turns into SAVITAR!

Catelyn shows up and tells Cisco to close the box, but he vibes instead. Fake Dante is talking to Cisco while Savitar about to murder Wally and Barry.

Cisco closes the box and Savitar disappears again. No one knows what is up with the box, other than that it messes with brainwaves.

Joe gives H.R. a hard time to putting Wally in danger again, Wally gets upset and walks away.

Julian is in the lab and Team Flash tells him that it's not Doctor Alchemy but Savitar is speaking through him.

They hook him up to the box so they can speak to Savitar directly. Julian opens his eyes and says, "Hello Barry, it's been a while."

Savitar, speaking through Julian says he holds the power of life and death over all of them, and that he knows them better than they know themselves.

"One will betray you, ONE SHALL FALL! I am the future. I want everything you took from me back and then I will DESTROY YOU!"

Barry says, "If you're all powerful then why don't you just kill us now?"

You trapped me in here Barry, you did this to me, Savitar says.

You did this to me in the future!

Team Flash talks about what they should do with the box. Jay suggests they toss the box with the stone into the speedforce.

Jay and Barry running as fast as they can together and throw the box into the speedforce!

But Barry...wakes up and finds Future Barry and Future Savitar with a knife to Future Iris's throat. Savitar kills Iris. Barry accidentally went to the future!

Barry is talking to Jay saying he never ran to the future before, it was 5 months later and he watched Iris die and saw himself not able to stop Savitar.

Jay tells Barry that this is why speedsters do not travel to the future because it is always changing, the future isn't written yet and it might not even turn out to be what he saw.

Barry is very upset about Iris dying.

"You need to focus on the here and now!" Jay tells Barry and then goes back to Earth-3 according to Barry.

Julian tries to leave, but Catelyn asks him to come to the West residence for Christmas Eve.

At the West residence, everyone is having a lovely time with the NOG-OFF and Joe and his lady have a kiss-off!

Barry is upset and Iris can tell.

Everyone hands a gift to Wally. IT'S HIS SPEEDSTER SUIT!

There is a knock on the door - It's Julian! He asks Barry if he would like to share the lab again.

Happy Christmas, everyone! Carolers show up at the door and Catelyn takes off her cuffs and turns the rain to snow.

Iris asks Barry when they are going to exchange presents and he says, "right now!" and he gives her a HOME!

Barry signed a lease and put both of their names on it! Iris says, but I got you a wallet!

Barry and Iris are moving in together.

"I don't know what's going to happen in the future, but I want to spend every single moment with you, Iris."

What a beautiful ending!
