The Flash EP Discusses The Reaction To Savitar's Upsetting Reveal

If you are all caught up with The Flash, then you know the drama's latest episode caught plenty of fans by surprise. The show kept fans strung along as they guessed at the true identity of Savitar. The season's big baddie had audiences a bit scared as the speedster promised to kill Iris West, leaving Barry Allen desperate to protect his lover and keep his friends safe. When The Flash revealed who the villain really was, lots of viewers were stunned by the revelation. And, now, the show's executive producer detailing how all the characters will react to the reveal.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Andrew Kreisberg said Barry Allen won't be the only one taken back by Evil Barry Allen from the future. Team Flash is going to be left hurting over the revelation.

"What's interesting about people's reactions — we certainly wrote it, but just the way the cast performs it — is it's one thing to have seen that giant metal suit and hear that there is a version of Barry inside of it. It's quite another thing when you actually come face-to-face with what's inside. Those scenes that are coming up over the next few episodes, as everyone gets a real glimpse of this person, it's this mixture of both horror and sadness," Kreisberg explained.

"His visage is obviously very upsetting — seeing the scar and the milky white eye, but also seeing the person that you love be so twisted. Barry Allen, who probably has the gentlest soul of all of the characters in the Arrowverse, to just see how far he could fall, he's both terrifying, but it's also heartbreaking."

Of course, fans can't be too surprised by Kreisberg's comment. Fans were plenty upset about the reveal, so it makes sense to hear that Team Flash would be peeved to hear that Savitar is a dark and twisted version of Barry Allen. The gentle character may not make the best choices at times (read: Flashpoint), but Barry does his best to look out for his loved ones. To hear there is a version of the character who'd willing kill Iris was a slap to the face for many. So, this week, Barry might have to avoid getting himself slapped when his teammates learn about his future self's deranged goals.

Barry (Grant Gustin) takes drastic measures to stop Savitar. Meanwhile, H.R. (Tom Cavanagh) continues to push Tracy Brand (guest star Anne Dudek) to design the trap for Savitar and Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) returns with an interesting proposal.

David McWhirter directed the episode written by Judalina Neira & Lauren Certo.
