'The Flash' Season 4 To Explore Iris And Caitlin's Relationship

It sounds like the leading ladies of Team Flash will take center stage in the fourth season of The Flash.

Fans already know that Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff will debut as the villain Blacksmith in an episode titled "Girl's Night Out," and that the episode will also feature a visit from Arrow's Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) for a night out in Central City that may or may not have to do with a certain Allen-West wedding.

It doesn't stop there though. The Flash star Candice Patton says that the new series will also deepen the relationship between her character, Iris West, and fellow Team Flash member Caitlin Snow.

"We're definitely going to see Iris' relationship with Caitlin especially developed this season, which we haven't seen before, which will be really nice for fans," Patton tells Entertainment Weekly. "Fans have been wanting to see more female dynamic on the show, and there will definitely be that. They're working closely together. Caitlin has been through so much herself in relationships, and I think if anyone can offer advice, it would be her, so she's there quite often to give Iris advice on her relationship with Barry and how to move forward."

The advice Iris is seeking likely has to do with how she should feel about the disappearance of Barry Allen. The Flash vanished into the Speed Force at the third season finale of The Flash. The rest of Team Flash is focused on finding a way to bring Barry back, but Iris isn't on the same page.

However, Caitlin Snow has her own problems to deal with. She ended last season by taking a sabbatical from Team Flash in order to try to figure out how to deal with her other personality, the villainous meta-human Killer Frost. Danielle Panabaker, The Flash star who plays Snow, told ComicBook.com previously that fans of either side of Caitlin will have plenty to look forward to in season four.

"Fans who love Caitlin Snow won't be disappointed and fans who love Killer Frost won't be disappointed," Panabaker said. "One of the things I wanted explained last season that I don't know was ever totally clear, and I don't know that we have the answer yet, is why Killer Frost is evil. I'm not totally sure why everything she does causes the physical body of Caitlin Snow to act so badly. So I'd like to know a little bit more about her motivation and why."

The Flash's fourth season premieres Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
