Upcoming Arrow Episode is "Team Felicity vs. Team Arrow," Says Stephen Amell

Felicity Smoak's relationship with the Helix hacker collective on Arrow will soon come to a head when she finds herself facing down an unexpected adversary: Oliver Queen.

The two will be on a collision course when, in an upcoming episode, they're both using different methods to go after Adrian Chase -- the Star City district attorney who also happens to be the "throwing-star killer," Prometheus.

Tonight's episode centered on Prometheus torturing and trying to break Oliver, and seemingly succeeding to some degree.

Still, Oliver knows that even if he's trying to ease his way out of the vigilante game a bit, he can't very well leave an unstable element like Prometheus alone -- and he'll be bringing in his old allies from the Bratva to help take Chase down.

"There's an episode coming up – I think it's Episode 19 – I forgot the name of it right now, but it really could be called 'Team Felicity vs. Team Arrow,'" series star Stephen Amell told Green Arrow TV during a recent interview. "They're both after the same thing – spoiler alert: It's Chase – but she's going about it via Helix and Team Arrow is going about it via Not Helix. Felicity's running point for her side, and Oliver's running point for his side, and it sets up a very, very interesting dynamic that we really haven't seen from them all year, and it starts to bring a lot of the stuff that – I don't know that people have been waiting for, but a lot of the reasons that they have been very regimented towards one another is starting to come to the surface in that episode."

Pressed for details on what this might mean for Felicity and Oliver, Amell suggested that there's been more going on than meets the eye all year long, and the two of them squaring off won't teach the characters anything as much as it will the viewers.

"I think Oliver and Felicity have a very good understanding of each other right now. I think that our viewers get a better understanding of why they are the way that they are," Amell explained.

The two have very different reasons for going after Prometheus, of course (aside from the whole serial killer thing); while he's been terrorizing Oliver for the whole season, one of the things he did in his efforts to damage Green Arrow's reputation was to get Felicity's boyfriend killed at the end of one of Ollie's arrrows.

Arrow airs on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
