Wonder Woman: Lucy Davis Explains Etta Candy's Relationship With Steve Trevor

Wonder Woman's first solo film is finally going to make its big screen debut in less than two weeks.
The big budget epic features the heroine's debut in the Great War and will introduce her origin, her power set, and her allies to the world at large.
Actor Lucy Davis plays Etta Candy in the new film, a character who is one of Wonder Woman's closest friends in the comic books. In the movie Candy is the assistant of Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine, and she'll accompany he and Gal Gadot's Diana Prince on their journey to stop the God of War's mad scheme.
Davis spoke about Candy's relationship with Steve Trevor in the movie and how it differs from the norm during that specific time period.
"One of the great things that Etta gets to work with Steve Trevor is because Steve is not your typical man, in that he does entrust her with things that in 1918 probably wouldn't have been entrusted to a secretary of somebody who is quite important," Davis said. "As you see in the movie, she has been entrusted with the mission that they are secretly on."

Davis said her character becomes so integral to the mission that she ends up earning the trust of David Thewlis' character, who is trying to bring about the signing of the Armistice.
"Eventually, further down the line, Sir Patrick [played by Thewlis] entrusts her. That's quite good going, actually," Davis added. "So I think that [Trevor] needs her just as much as she needs that because now she's been given responsibility that she wouldn't have normally be given before, and equally he has somebody who could probably fly under the radar a bit. So he can trust the person who no one's really looking at. So I quite like that about her."
Sounds like Etta Candy will play an even bigger role than the trailers have let on so far. We'll find out more when Wonder Woman premieres in theaters June 2.
