Fans Vote Wonder Woman As Most Anticipated Summer Movie

05/23/2017 11:50 am EDT

As usual for this time of year, the summer is jam packed with highly anticipated films. That said, the people have spoken, and none of those films can hold a candle to DC's Wonder Woman.

Fandango recently ran a fan survey that included results from over 10,000 people, the largest participation in Fandango's history. Participants were asked to pick the one movie they were looking forward to seeing the most between Memorial Day and Labor Day (via EW), and Wonder Woman took top honors. The top five included other heavy hitters like Spider-Man: Homecoming, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, The Dark Tower, and Dunkirk. Dreamwork's Despicable Me 3 took the top spot in most anticipated family film, while Baywatch took most anticipated comedy.

Fandango also offered up one other survey, which said that 92% of fans were excited to see a standalone female-led superhero film, and 87% of those fans want Hollywood to make more movies in the same vein. Hopefully Hollywood gets the message, a message that will be bolstered when Wonder Woman performs well at the box office.

Wonder Woman currently has a 4.07 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings, and you can find the official synopsis below. There are also more official movie images in the gallery.

Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action-adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
