Wonder Woman Director Reveals How Zack Snyder Influenced The Film

In just a few months, the superhero game is about to get turned on its head thanks to Wonder Woman. Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment will roll out the heroine's first live-action standalone in June, and fans are already hyped to see Gal Gadot suit back up as the icon. The actress first donned the heroine's classic costume back in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice where she kicked butt under Zack Snyder's watchful eye. Now, the director of Wonder Woman is opening up about her take on the character, and Patty Jenkins admits much of Snyder's vision has bled into hers.

During an interview with Empire, Jenkins took a moment to talk about how Snyder's influence worked its way into Wonder Woman.

"Zack was making Batman V Superman simultaneous to making this, but he was very instrumental in the direction the film was going to take," Jenkins said.

"That ended up leading to my signing on, because I know enough about these worlds now that unless we really have a shared vision, it's going to be two years of fighting, and who wants that? I had a very strong feeling of what kind of Wonder Woman film I'd want to make."

Of course, Jenkins and Snyder have continued to work with one another closely during their time with Warner Bros. Snyder is the director behind Justice League, an ensemble blockbuster which will see Wonder Woman team up with the likes of Batman and the Flash. Jekins was working with Gadot on Wonder Woman at the same time, so there is little doubt that the two films will somehow overlap in one way or another.

Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action-adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins and is written by Allan Heinberg, Geoff Johns, and Zack Snyder. The film stars Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis (Etta Candy), Danny Huston, Ewen Bremmer, Doutzen Kroes, Samantha Jo (Euboea), Florence Kasumba (Senator Acantha), Said Taghmaoui, Eleanor Matsuura (Epione), Emily Carey (Young Diana), and Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe).

Wonder Woman opens in theaters on June 2, 2017.
