Zack Snyder Caught Up With Jared Leto At CinemaCon

The architect of DC's movie universe recently met with the Clown Prince of Crime at a press event for this week's CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

While both men's approach to the DC canon are divisive among fans, no one can say that Zack Snyder or Jared Leto are beholden to past portrayals or expectations.

Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice revered the source material while being a wholly unique offering; an auteur's adaptation of a seminal confrontation between two of the most popular superheroes in the world.

Leto's Joker was a drastically different portrayal that had not yet been seen on the pages or on screen, distilling the essence of the character into a decidedly contemporary take.

Both men are poised to continue on with their roles in making DC movies for the foreseeable future.

Snyder is in the process of finishing up post-production for Justice League which is set to hit theaters at the end of the year and is currently ComicBook.com's 5th Most Anticipated Film as voted by our readers. Leto's Joker could take on a more prominent role in future films, especially with news of Bat-Family characters Nightwing and Batgirl getting their own movies.

This is one of the few times we've seen the director and the actor together. Leto previously starred in the Academy Award-winning film Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer. A sequel is rumored to be in development, as well as a Harley Quinn-led spinoff called Gotham City Sirens.

They were also spotted talking with Denis Villeneuve, director of Arrival and the forthcoming Blade Runner 2049. Were they trying to recruit him into the superhero movie game, or simply hamming it up?

While it's likely the two were meeting in a casual setting, we can hope that they discussed some future comic book projects. Maybe Leto will appear in the Batman, despite not being featured as the main villain. We just really want to see Joker get his comeuppance for what he did to Robin and sending Bruce Wayne on the dark path we see him in at the beginning of the Golden Razzie-winning Batman v Superman.

Justice League is scheduled to hit theaters on November 17.
