Call Of Duty Zombies Chronicles Shows Beautifully Rebuilt Maps In 15 Minutes Of Footage

Until now, Activision and Treyarch have been just a bit stingy with the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles gameplay footage. Sure, most fans know what they're getting into, and they released shot 30-second flythroughs of each map (which you can check out here, here, and here), but some folks may want a better look at the revamped zombie mayhem before they plunk down their $30.

Well, a new PlayStation Underground video fully pulls back the curtain on Zombies Chronicles with over 15-minutes of footage covering all eight of the DLC pack's maps. During the footage, Treyarch co-founder Jason Blundell talks about how much time and effort Treyarch sunk into these remade maps…

"We've lovingly remastered everything. The lighting, the textures, the models, the AI, all these things got changed around. Some people will probably think, you just sort of import maps and up-res the textures. That's absolutely not the case. You have to build the thing from scratch, because the technology has changed so radically. You could bring a skeleton in, but to get the full power out of this, we rebuilt everything from scratch.

So, every one of these maps is a full rebuild and reimagining. On top of that, we're bringing in the Black Ops III weapons and Gobblegum system, and for maps that didn't have perks, we're bringing the Wonderfizz in. The primary purpose of this project was to keep the essence and design from the original map, but bring it up to speed with modern technology."

Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles contains eight maps originally featured in Call of Duty: World of War, Black Ops, and Black Ops II, including Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa, Kino Der Toten, Ascension, Shangri-La, Moon, and Origins. Zombies Chronicles is available right now on PS4, and will release on PC and Xbox One on June 16.
