Titan Comics And Bethesda Team Up For Quake Champions Comics

While Quake Champions' huge beta test may have drawn to a close, there's still a lot happening with Bethesda's multiplayer franchise, as it's about to spread over to another medium – comic books!

The game's publisher, Bethesda, has announced that it is teaming up with Titan Comics to produce a series of comics based on Champions, set to come to stores and digital devices this August.

"The Quake franchise broke new ground for multiplayer competition in its initial release 20 years ago," the company noted in a press release. "Quake's fast, frenetic and skill-based multiplayer arena combat charted a new frontier for graphics and gameplay. 2017 marks the hotly anticipated release of the Quake Champions video game, and in August – this same grisly action comes to comics!"

The series will "delve into the bloody backgrounds of the Champions of Quake – Ranger, Visor, Nyx and more; with sensational art by Alan Quah (Dark Souls)," according to the press release. "Get ready for the grisliest inter-dimentional frag-fest you've ever laid eyes on!" Fabio Listrani and Tazio Bettin are also contributing to the project, as they produced artwork for the debut covers.

More announcements on the series are expected soon (possibly around San Diego Comic-Con time, though we could get something sooner next month during Bethesda's pre-E3 press conference), but the team did reveal four covers for the series, which we've included in an attached gallery. They depict a number of character shots from the forthcoming series, featuring the Ranger, Visor, Nyx and more in dramatic poses that truly bring out the artistic style we've come to expect from the game.

As for Champions, there's still no word on its release yet, but considering the comic series is making its debut in just a few months, we could very well see the release coincide with those in August. Bethesda is likely to make some kind of announcement during its pre-E3 press conference next month, so be sure to check back for all the details!

This should make for some good reading, especially with a number of Titan's great talents on the case to bring it to life. Expect plenty of bloodshed.

Quake Champions is set to release sometime this year for PC. There's no word yet on a console release, but keep those fingers crossed!
