Tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the moment Spider-Man fans had been waiting for finally arrived and the first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming was released.

This trailer offers fans their first real look into the life of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's pretty exciting, so we went through the trailer and picked the five moments that made us most excited for the upcoming Marvel Studios Spidey flick.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is the first Spider-Man movie to made in concert by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland made his debut as a teenaged Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War when Tony Stark recruited Peter Parker to his side to help shore up his ranks against Captain America's team of Avenger.s

Spider-Man: Homecoming returns Peter Parker to his roots as a high school student and will see him trying to balance his responsibilities as a high school student and to his Aunt May with his "extracurricular activities" as a web-slinging superhero. Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the first in a series of new Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man movies.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is directed by Jon Watts, from a screenplay by Jonathan M. Goldstein & John Francis Daley and Watts & Christopher Ford and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, and stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.

Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in theaters on July 7, 2017.

The "Avengers"

The Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer certainly set a tone in its opening scene, which sees Spider-Man foiling a bank robbery attempt by some thugs wearing plastic Avengers masks over their faces - including Thor, Hulk, Captain America, and Iron Man.

Spider-Man slings some of his signature quips with the robbers, pointing out that it is the Hulk who really gives it away that they are not the real Avengers and the swings in for a fight.

Obviously, Spider-Man has no trouble taking out these particular criminals, but the Avengers Halloween masks are a nice touch, adding some self-referential humor to what is the first Spider-Man collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.

Michelle Introduces Herself

"Too late. You guys are losers."

And with those six words, fans are introduced to Michelle, played by Zendaya. Zendaya has been insistent in denying rumors that she is playing Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but Michelle certainly seems to be as fiery as MJ was ever known to be.

Michelle's introduction comes while Peter Parker is at school pining after, and creepily staring at, Liz Allen. Liz is said to be the love interest for Spider-Man: Homecoming, but we'll see how that plays out. After all, romantic melodrama is kind of a hallmark of a good high school Spider-Man story.

The Vulture Spreads His Wings

Here we get our first real look at the villain of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Adrian Toomes, aka The Vulture, who is played by Michael Keaton.

The Vulture is traditionally an aging villain who comes to resent Spider-Man for his youth and enhanced abilities. The international hints that the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Vulture may specifically be a seasoned criminal looking to escalate his game in the age of superheroes.

As seen in this hero shot, Toomes builds himself a Vulture suit that gives him wings and talons, both handy tools for committing crimes and for fighting Spider-Man when he tries to get in the way.

The Hero Moment

One of the key themes of any good superhero story, and particularly in regards to Spider-Man, is self-sacrifice. When it comes to movies, it is all the better if that self-sacrifice plays out in a picturesque, visually arresting way.

We get such a shot once in the trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming. As seen below, Spider-Man is putting himself at risk and pushing his body to the limit to save innocent lives.

The scene is quite reminiscent of a similar moment of self-sacrifice from Spider-Man 2, but the similarity is most likely due to the visual language of the character more than any attempt at homage.

Marvel Team-Up

There was a lot of Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark in the Iron Man trailer, and there's plenty to love about it. The "I'm not giving you a hug" moment that takes place between Tony Stark and Peter Parker in the backseat of Tony's car is one of them.

But the moment at the very end of the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer, in which Spider-Man and a fully armored Iron Man make their way through the city streets, is an especially endearing moment.

Seeing Spider-Man acting side-by-side with the poster power for Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a perfect visual representation of why fans are so excited for this movie.
