Tonight's episode of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, titled "Wake Up," may have shed new light on a lingering question from the first half Season 4, but it did it really give us all the answers?

SPOILERS For Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Season 4 Episode 11, "Wake Up," Follow

The mystery begins back in the seventh episode of the fourth season of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, titled "Deals With Our Devils." That was the episode in which Ghost Rider left Robbie Reyes' body and possessed Mack for a time.

Ghost Rider was jut getting comfortable in its new skin when Robbie Reyes showed up and talked the spirit of vengeance into returning to its former host. Robbie had to promise to settle all of Ghost Rider's scores in hell or on Earth in order to convince Ghost Rider to budge.

Ghost Rider disappeared with Robbie for a while. At the end of the episode, Mack sat by the dimensional portal that Aida had created staring at an old photo. The camera only showed the back of the photo, on which was written "Hope 4/18/06." Robbie/Ghost Rider then returned and asked Mack if he wanted to help settle their last score.

So who, or what, is Hope? That question is addressed in "Wake Up." Mack and Yo-Yo are enjoying some intimacy when Mack receives a text message. After reading the message, Mack immediately begins dressing to leave and is shady when it comes to explaining where he's going to Yo-Yo.

Later in the episode, Mack returns and Yo-Yo insists that he explain what's going on. Mack reveals that he went to see his ex, Nicole, with whom he'd had a child. That child's name was Hope, and she was born 11 years ago, which would mean 2006, explaining the writing on the back of Mack's photo. Mack explains to Yo-Yo that Hope only lived for four days and that her death was the end of his relationship with Nicole.

So does this solve the mystery? Maybe, but we're not sure that Agents of SHIELD has told us everything just yet. So far, we only have Mack's story to off of. None of his supposed meeting with Nicole happens on screen.

This also seems somewhat anticlimactic when paired with the buildup from "Deals With Our Devils." Ghost Rider implied that Mack had a lot of built of rage and resentment to feed on. If Mack pulled out a photo of Hope after his experience with Ghost Rider then we're guessing he's got some vengeful feelings about her that he's not revealed just yet.
