Ant-Man And The Wasp Set Photo Reveals Easter Egg Straight From The Comics

Ant-Man and the Wasp is taking a gag from modern Ant-Man comics and injecting it into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A new photo from an Ant-Man and the Wasp filming location in Atlanta reveals the Easter egg and gives us a clue as to what Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) has been up to since the previous Ant-Man movie.

The photo shows Lang's van repainted with the logo for something called "X-Con Security Consultants." This would appear to be a reference to reference to Nick Spencer's 2015-2016 run on Ant-Man and The Astonishing Ant-Man, joined primarily by artist Ramon Rosanas, in which Scott Lang tried to leave the superhero game behind and start a security firm called "Ant-Man Security Solutions."

The gag has been altered and toned down a bit. Ant-Man's company vehicle in the comics had imitation ant on top of it and the company's name was pretty on the nose. Scott Lang of the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be playing it a little more subtle, keeping the van looking inconspicuous and making the name of the company, a play on Lang's status as an ex-convict, a clever but unobvious play on words.

Ant-Man and the Wasp currently has a 3.88 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating, making it the ninth most-anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers. From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: "Ant-Man and The Wasp." In the aftermath of "Captain America: Civil War," Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he's confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

Ant-Man and the Wasp opens in theaters July 6, 2018.
