Marvel Star Anthony Mackie Would Love To Play Blade

When some actors catch the superhero bug, they never want to let go. It looks like that's true of Anthony Mackie, one of the stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor has portrayed Sam Wilson, AKA Falcon, in four previous Marvel films. Most recently, Mackie reprised his role in Captain America: Civil War.

According to the star, he doesn't want to end his comic book career with just one super role under his belt.

At Wizard World Cleveland, ScreenGeek had a chance to catch up with Mackie about his future in comic book movies. The actor revealed that there's one other Marvel character he'd like to play in the future.

"I pretty much want to grow up to be Wesley Snipes. If we can bring back Blade, I'd definitely be Blade in every Blade movie."

Fans are dying to see Blade return to the screen, even after a trilogy of Wesley Snipes films have already been released.

Mackie's passion can't be questioned, but the logistics here are difficult. Since the actor is already one prominent Marvel hero, it's unlikely he'd be allowed to take on a second one.

Hopefully, fans will get the chance to see Falcon appear again in next year's Avengers: Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The expansive confirmed cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bethany, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Josh Brolin as the villain Thanos. Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel are filming back-to-back for a May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019 release, respectively.
