Dave Bautista Says Drax Should Take On Thanos

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set to debut in just a few weeks, fans are already wondering what exactly will be next for everybody's favorite band of a-holes. Although franchise director James Gunn recently announced that a third Guardians film is on the way, many are also setting their sights on the team's appearance in the highly-anticipated Avengers: Infinity War.

While there is no indication of what stories Infinity War and Guardians 3 will tell, one of the franchise's stars has one already in mind. Dave Bautista, who plays Drax the Destroyer, recently revealed to Screen Rant the storyline he would most like to see for his character - one that he hopes to see played out onscreen in the near future.

"Personally I'd love to see him go head to head with Thanos." Bautista explained. "I'd love to see that. I've always been a proponent for that."

A Drax vs. Thanos battle has been brewing within the Marvel Cinematic Universe for quite some time now, since the release of the first Guardians. For those who need a refresher, much of Drax's motivation in that first film centered around avenging his wife and daughter's deaths. This led Drax on a sort of one-man tirade against Ronan (Lee Pace), before realizing that Thanos (Josh Brolin) is in fact the one he needs to kill.

While it's unclear if such a scene will actually happen, Bautista appears to have faith that Marvel will follow through with the plotline, whether in Infinity War or in Guardians 3.

"You now, [Marvel is] just really brilliant about their writing. James Gunn has so much, well, he'll have complete creative control over Guardians 3 and he has tons of input as far as Guardians go on in Infinity War, so I just trust in him, man. I do completely."

Avengers: Infinity War opens May 4, 2018. The film has a 4.28/5 anticipation ranking with our users - putting it just slightly ahead of DC's Justice League. Let us know your Avengers excitement level by rating the film below!
