Chris Hemsworth Claims Cate Blanchett Always Called Him on his 'Sh*t' Filming Thor: Ragnarok

Thanks to his turn as Thor in a variety of films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Hemsworth has become one of the most sought-after actors of his generation. Despite the acclaim the actor has received, he recently revealed to Elle that Cat Blanchett, his co-star in Thor: Ragnarok, was never afraid to call him out on his behavior.

"She calls you on your sh*t straightaway," Hemsworth joked about Blanchett. "Which is intimidating. You walk in and you're doing all the usual polite chats, and she's like, 'Chris, what are you doing? Really, that's the story you're gonna tell?'"

Blanchett is playing Hela, one of the first female supervillains in the MCU, with other actresses, like Karen Gillen's Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy, serving more as security than as the supreme threat of a film. If the on screen presence wasn't powerful enough, Blanchett is an Oscar-winning actress with enough accolades to intimidate anyone.

He added, "And you're like, 'Sh*t, I'm not going to get away with anything with this lady. I have to drop the facade.' There's quite a feeling of wanting to impress her."

Luckily, the actress was far from a diva, once Hemsworth got over his own reservations about sharing scenes with such a talent.

He admitted, "She's like, 'I'm a human being. Act normal.' Before you know it, you're drinking and telling stories and cracking jokes. She has a wild sense of humor."

In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – The Incredible Hulk!
