Deadpool 2: Josh Brolin Shares First Cable Pre-Production Photo

It hasn't been long since the world learned who would be taking on the role of Cable for Deadpool 2. After months of speculating, 20th Century Fox put fans out of their misery when reports surfaced that Josh Brolin had been cast in the role. With the sequel's main cast assembled, pre-production for Deadpool 2 is now trucking along at a brisk pace. And, to celebrate the progress, Brolin just posted a rather hilarious pre-production shot of Cable on-set.

Over on Instagram, Brolin shared a photo with fans which sees him sitting in studio. The photo shows the actors sitting still while a purple head mold sits on his face.

"You know, just meditating," Brolin wrote before adding a slew of hashtags. The various notes included "Deadpool 2," "Clostraphobia [sic] rocks," and "Ryan Reynolds is my b*tch."

Of course, some fans were a bit put-off by the image when they saw it. Given the mold's purple hue, plenty of followers felt the image was a nod to Brolin's role as Thanos. The actor is actively working on Avengers: Infinity War at the moment as the actor plays the Mad Titan Thanos. The egotistical alien will be the main villain for the third and fourth Avengers flicks - and his purple skin is what makes this Deadpool 2 sneak-peek so funny.

Brolin is no doubt getting his face molded to prepare for Cable's prosthetics. The mutant may be best-known for his robotic arm, but the X-Men character does have a hi-tech prosthetic in his eye. Cable also has plenty of facial scars, so the make-up artists behind Deadpool 2 will need a proper measurement of Brolin's face to bring those to life.

The Deadpool sequel, which is being directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde) and written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, is currently in pre-production and is expected to begin filming at the end of this spring. The film will introduce Deadpool's time-traveling mutant partner, Cable, as well as X-Force member Domino, who is being portrayed by Atlanta actress Zazie Beetz. Supporting characters from the original film — such as Colossus (voiced by Stefan Kapicic), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) and taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni) — are also expected to return.
