While fans wait to see if Fox's Channing Tatum-led Gambit movie can get off the ground, it doesn't mean they won't have some new Gambit stories to keep them occupied.

Just to sweeten the deal, Marvel is bringing along Deadpool for the ride in Deadpool V Gambit #1.

The book is being written by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker, with art by Danilo Beyruth, and the name of the game here is self-preservation. In an interview with Marvel.com, Acker said: "It's a fun lens through which to look at the Marvel Universe, where they're super, but not necessarily heroes. Deadpool and Gambit aren't 'with great power comes great responsibility' guys. They look out for number one."

Blacker seconds that thinking, adding: "I think they're interesting because, unlike, say, Spider-Man, the reader doesn't know if Gambit and Deadpool are going to do the 'right thing. Their morality is muddy. They're good guys, but only because they're better than the bad guys."

You can read the official description below, and make sure to check out the preview in the gallery. Deadpool V Gambit #1 hits comic store shelves on June 22nd.

Gambit – one of the smoothest, best-looking operators in the world. Deadpool – one of the most annoying, ugliest dirtbags around. Naturally these two have beef. Be there this June when tensions reach their boiling points in DEADPOOL V GAMBIT #1 – a new limited series from writers Ben Acker & Ben Blacker (Thunderbolts) and artist Danilo Beyruth (Gwenpool)! Did you know that the "V" stands for "Vs."? Crazy, right? Know what's crazier? These two have a secret history together – working to pull con jobs across the Marvel Universe. That's right, and now the Regeneratin' Degenerate and the Ragin' Cajun are begrudgingly taking on one last job together. What could possibly go wrong? Hey, is that Spider-Man and Daredevil?! The grift is go and the con is on this June as these two go head-to-head in DEADPOOL V GAMBIT #1!
