Deadpool Will Bring Back Dopinder The Taxi Driver In Sequel

Deadpool was a stand-out movie for many reasons, and fans would consider good, ole' Dopinder to be one of those reasons. The unassuming character was introduced to moviegoers as a taxi driver who was called upon by Deadpool, and the gag character just kept showing up throughout the movie. The last time fans saw Dopinder, the love-sick driver had crashed his taxi into a car, but it looks like there is more to the character still.

In a recent interview with Nerdist, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick confirmed that the taxi driver would return in Deadpool 2. When the pair were asked about their favorite scenes from the first film, Wernick admitted his go-to bit was with Dopinder.

"I would say that the relationship between Dopinder and Deadpool was the most fun for me," he said. "I love that relationship and I love that character. And he'll be in the sequel."

Later, the writer even joked that Dopinder should become a mainstay in the X-Men movie universe. "We got to get him his own spin-off," he laughed.

Of course, there's no telling how Dopinder will be brought back, but fans have a few guesses. There are those wondering whether the character will make a cameo when Deadpool tries to retrieve the firearms he left in Dopinder's car. And, naturally, fans are curious to see whether the driver was able to secure the heart of Gita after getting his cousin Bandhu out of the picture.

Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool is directed by Tim Miller and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand and Stefan Kapičić.
