New Defenders Promo Reveals How Reluctant Heroes Come Together

Ahead of the series debut on Netflix, the stars of Marvel's The Defenders spoke about their roles in the crossover in a brand new featurette, complete with new footage.

Stars Krysten Ritter, Charlie Cox, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones spoke about their respective characters and where they are when the show begins. Check out the video above!

Be wary of spoilers though, as it does offer some hints about the story's direction.

The featurette hints that some of the heroes are apprehensive to get involved before they eventually come together to save New York City from the villainous forces of the Hand, lead by Sigourney Weaver as Alexandra.

"There are people who run from the fire," said Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, "and there are people who run into it."

The featurette also has some awesome clips of Elodie Yung as Elektra, including an ominous shot of her standing on a rooftop overlooking New York City.

"These people are incredibly dangerous," Jones said. "They're incredibly evil."

"It's clear to them that the only chance they have of saving New York is going to be if they work together," Cox added.

Ritter teased that "seeing all four of these characters together is epic."

"We can easily turn our backs and just try and take care of ourselves," Colter said. "But it's not about us. That's what being a hero is."

The clip ends with some awesome banter between Jones and Daredevil in which she compliments his "nice ears."

"They're horns," he replies.

We'll get to see a lot more quips when The Defenders hits Netflix Friday, August 18.

Marvel's The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
