Doctor Strange Play Arts Kai Figure Revealed By Square Enix

The sorcerer supreme is coming to Square Enix's Play Arts Kai Variant line, and he's received a few alternations since you last saw him. The figure was redesigned by Hitoshi Kondo, a redesign that aims to put some style into the Doctor's wardrobe.

Doctor Strange's new gear includes a more layered design, with a gun metal gray offsetting the darker blues of the suit and boots and yellow hues of the sash and gauntlets. This is contrasted against the vibrant red of the cape, which can also be inverted to switch up for a number of poses. If that wasn't enough, the figure comes with numerous magical effect attachments, like force blasts, attachable armor, and spell effects. All of these are made out of a translucent material to give them an ethereal glow, and there's something here to accommodate every pose.

The figure also comes with several swappable hands and stands at 10 inches tall. The figure is scheduled for a Japanese release this September, and you can view more up-close photos of the figure in the gallery.

From Marvel Studios comes Doctor Strange, the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place – a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long, Strange – armed with newly acquired magical powers – is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence.

Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, Benjamin Bratt, and Scott Adkins, with Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton. Scott Derrickson is directing with Kevin Feige producing. Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard, Charles Newirth and Stan Lee serve as executive producers. Jon Spaihts and Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill wrote the screenplay.

Next up for Marvel is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on May 5, 2017. Spider-Man: Homecoming lands on July 7, 2017, followed by Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017. After that Black Panther debuts on February 16, 2018, while Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
