EXCLUSIVE: Uncanny Avengers #22 Reveals The Fate Of Xavier's Brain
03/30/2017 05:56 pm EDT
After a hard fought battle with the Red Skull, the Uncanny Avengers have finally managed to take down the Red Skull, which poses the question; What will happen to Xavier's brain? The answer is a bit more complicated, as you can see in ComicBook.com's exclusive preview of Uncanny Avengers #22.
The team is riding high after a long overdue victory, but their former leader has something to say, and the team isn't going to like it. Just because he was their leader in the past doesn't mean they're just going to roll over for him, though, and if that is what you assume, well then you just don't know Rogue very well.
Marvel's Tom Brevoort touched on some of this in a previous interview, back when the team first disbanded. He said "The morale of the characters, particularly of the characters who know – Rogue and Deadpool and Cable – they describe it as "they are going to go punk." They are going to do the job they were there to do and if Steve Rogers doesn't like it, tough. They are going to do the thing. It's not for him to say whether or not they are going to be that thing. They are going to be that thing regardless. They take a sort of punk attitude towards the whole Avengers experience and that will be an interesting thing to see."
The lineup might have changed, but the attitude certainly didn't, and that conflict will be a big part of Uncanny Avengers going forward, especially with the upcoming Secret Empire, which heavily involves their former leader.
Uncanny Avengers #22 is written by Gerry Duggan with art by Pepe Larraz and a cover by David Marquez. You can view the official description for the issue below.
