If you thought Captain America: Civil War had a big cast then wait until you hear this. When Avengers: Infinity War finally lands, the hugely ambitious blockbuster will feature a cast even bigger than that of its predecessor. The third Avengers flick will unite Earth's mightiest warriors and the Guardians of the Galaxy - and that's not even counting the likes of Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and more. Marvel Studios has already begun production on the massive film, and its stars have already noted that the production is unlike anything they've done before. It would be easy to cross schedules or get characters down wrong, but the Russo Brothers aren't working alone on the flick.

Thankfully, they have the support of James Gunn.

Fans have known for some time now that the director has been assisting Avengers: Infinity War. Since Gunn is the mastermind behind the Guardians of the Galaxy films, the director has been overseeing the intergalactic team's part in the upcoming movie. And, now, Gunn has shed more light on what his work on the film entails.

"I've been heavily involved in what the Guardians do in Avengers: Infinity War," Gunn told io9 during a recent interview for his new movie The Belko Experiment.

"I gave [directors Joe & Anthony Russo] tons of advice on how to direct the actors, talked to them a lot during the shooting, and talked to the actors a lot during the shooting to make sure that the Guardians are staying authentic."

Of course, fans are grateful to hear that Gunn has taken a personal interest in the Guardians. Many were nervous about a new director having access to the likes of Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord, but Gunn seems optimistic about the place in the interconnected MCU. So far, the team of space renegades have been fairly isolated due to their cosmic setting, but Thanos will force the outsiders to team up with heroes like Iron Man and Black Widow.

So, if the characters all stay true to themselves, you can expect Star-Lord to get smacked upside the head by Black Widow at some point. The spy may not take kindly to the flirty hero's advances.

Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
